The Vicar of dibley stars Dawn french as Geraldine Granger, the village's new vicar following the sudden death of the former vicar. The village are shocked at first but soon adjust. We meet David, a man who does not warm to Geraldine and disagrees to almost anything she does. We meet Hugo, david's son who as David describes him as a "idiot", Alice - Geraldine's best friend who is without the doubt the star of the show, Owen - the promiscuous farmer and Jim - the guy who says No No No to the start of every sentence.

The first series features six episodes on disc one. The second disc is the easter and christmas special. But these episodes are shown out of order. The christmas special is shown before the easter special which is incorrect because a minor character dies in the easter special but is alive in the chrismas special.

Series 2 and 3 both have 4 episodes and contain the best episodes of the show's history. These series see Alice and Hugo's relationship begin. After series 3, the show was off Tv for many years but returned with two christmas specials and then two more christmas specials the following year which are the show's final episodes.

I found the xmas specials not as funny compared to the regular series. But show ends on a great note. But i am not convinced whatso ever that this is the last of the show.

The series was brilliant (until the flawed additions at the end), but don't believe that this set won't be succeeded by an "even more ultimate" edition when they make another one - I've got the previous complete set!

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

....its just this dvd set does not include BallyKissDibley, (based on BallyKissAngel, which is a show I adore) It is my fave short of the show they did for one Comic Relief special! Also, not that im as fussed bout this one, the wife swap special with Sting that was done for Comic Relief '07 is not on here either, I suppose I am slightly disappointed, if its supposed to be the Ultimate set, why not just put them all on here and be done with it. Perhaps they want to put another set out nxt year! Im sorry I started on such a downer, I absolutely love the Vicar of Dibley, I give the show 5 Stars, just maybe not the box set!

This boxset is one of mine that gets watched over and over again and I never tire of it!
I love all the episodes, apart from Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. They were Christmas specials, but focused on sadder subjects like famine and poverty in the 3rd world which wasn't what I expected as a Christmas special. Didn't make me feel Jolly at all!

My only fault with this 'Ultimate Boxset', like other reviewers, was that it doesn't feature any of the Children in Need specials and there is no other special features.
Still going to give it 5 Stars because this really is an excellent show and it's also great value for money!
Recommended for any Dibley Fan!

This is British comedy at its best! Dawn French leads a band of brilliant actors and actresses to comedy perfection. To think that the director could make something out of a vicar in a small village is perhaps strange, but it really really works! There is fun all the way and the way the small and concervative village changes when Dawn rides into town is just enchanting.
Get the series today and laugh yourself silly! I have watched over and over and I can recommend it to anyone (and their friends and neighbours...and their friends). Top class comedy!

Funny as hell and great value for money.
Good old fashioned comedy, sometimes near the mark but done with complete taste and humour. (tongue in cheek).
Brilliant, fantastic gift!
