Just when you think it can't get any worse... it does!

Series One: The week before a wedding can be stressful at the best of times, but as hapless publisher Howard Steel (Ben Miller) prepares to marry the lovely Mel (Sarah Alexander), it becomes a nightmare of gargantuan proportions. Everything that can go wrong... does. Howard's earnest attempts to do the right thing only seem to make matters worse and his situation isn't helped by his dad's new girlfriend, a besotted old flame and a family funeral. Will Howard and Mel ever make it up the aisle?

Series Two: Having finally made it down the aisle after the worst week of his life, it seems as if everything is finally going well for Howard. He and Mel are about to move into a new home together, and are expecting their first child; two life-defining events, and for once everything is perfect. If only life was this simple!

The Worst Christmas Of My Life: Howard and Mel are looking forward to their first Christmas as a family with their new baby daughter, Emily. However, with suicidal secretaries, maniacal relatives, homicidal boyfriends and belligerent Santas, circumstances conspire to make this a Christmas to remember... for all the wrong reasons.

Belly laughs, but a little repetitive...

All fourteen episodes and the Christmas special.
We follow the numerous disasters of Howard and his gorgeous wife as he wrecks the lives of all those around him.
High lights include: accidently urinating on the Christmas goose, accidently becomming embroiled in a "dogging" incident, accidental coffin desecration, killing the family pet, problems with a "bunny boiler" and far too many more to mention.
Ben Miller and Sarah Alexander are more than adequate as the young couple, but the acting honours go to Alison Steadman and Geoffrey Whitehead as the oft wronged in-laws.
The outrageous and cringe making situations come thick and fast, but by the end of the second series the smile can become a little fixed, but the "outrageous factor" is ramped up to compensate.
This is fairly adult comedy with some sexual references. (Name me one other show that shows a vicar with scalded genitals having butter massaged into his private parts to relieve the pain-thankfully just off camera!)
I have to say that my face hurt after watching this and it has prompted many "You must see" conversations.
I would describe this as three parts "One Foot in the Grave",one part "Alan Partridge" and one part "Faulty Towers"
If you enjoy other peoples misfortune, or want to feel better about your self, or just have an unkind sense of humour-BUY THIS.

 Best sitcom since Fawlty Towers

I loved this series and can't understand how its not raved about by more people. It has so many laugh out loud bits that its really up there with the greats. There are not many sitcoms that can compare to Porridge or Only fools or even the great Fawlty Towers but this one deserves such acclaim. Come on guys do another series.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

This is very funny, the sitauations are really cringy. This is the only program in a long while to make me laugh out loud and shake. It is warm, witty and beautifully written, acted and produced. If you loved friends, gavin and stacey, nighty night et all then you will absolutely love this. A hidden gem that keeps on giving you new things to spot and laugh at.

He grops his mother in law, kills the family dog, almost kills his father in law's mum, locks the dog in a grandfather clock, gets date raped and more, a wonderful and funny program that just gets better and better every time you watch it.
