Purely One of (If not) thee greastest Ocean documentary's ever. We all know that David Attenborough is the undisputed champion of Wildlife Doc's and he's done it again with this breathtaking Collection that range from the Surface's of the Ocean right down to the depth's. Some of the Image's really have to be seen to be believed. A must have ! ! !
The Blue Planet (2001) - *****
If you're trying to complete your David Attenborough experience, and have Life Of Birds, Life Of Mammals, Life In The Undergrowth, Life In Cold Blood etc., this could be titled Life Undersea. Covering everything from fish, to marine mammals, sea birds and molluscs, The Blue Planet is an epic in wildlife film-making. It is a strong contender for my favourite nature series of all time; narrated by David Attenborough, who never fails to live up to expectations, the filming is superb, the portrayal of underwater life is vivid and stunningly beautiful. Highlights include The Deep, an episode dedicated to the abyss of the ocean floor, the incredibly moving segment including a pod of killer whales and a mother humpback and calf, as well a feeding frenzy which remains a defining moment for nature documentaries to aspire to. Utterly brilliant.
Absolutely perfect for the family, had seen afew episodes and just had to buy myself the box set. Next set will have to be planet earth
When it comes to nature documentaries this Blue Planet box set is once again proof that nobody does it better than the BBC. Many years in the making the series focuses on the Earths seas, oceans and rivers.
Every episode is beautifully shot and narrated by the legendary David Attenborough providing truly fascinating insights into the weird and wonderful creatures that inhabit the world just below the surface.
