Quite rightly considered as one of the true BBC sit com classics, 'Fawlty Towers' gains this definitive three disc 'complete' box set release in attractive slip case design and accompanying eight page specially illustrated viewing notes booklet. Disc one offers up three hours that comprised the six Season One episodes with the option of listening to season director John Howard Davies, whom in my opinion came across as a tad hesitant. The second disc weighs in at about three hours and fourteen minutes in length where Bob Spiers is on hand, should you wish it, as you verbal viewing companion to the six Season Two episodes he directed. For me Bob seemed a much more confident commentary contributor. Undoubtedly what makes this 'complete' title so appealing is the third disc containing a wealth of bonus features unique to this release. Weighing in at about one hundred minutes this features worthy 'exclusive interviews' with John Cleese, Prunella Scales and Andrew Sachs together with rather dry but interesting 'Torquay Tourist Office' extra, outtakes, 'Cheap Tatty Review' and fascinating 'Easter egg' covering the fate of the building used as the hotel in the series. This is a marvellous 'definitive' release that honours the comic genius of this 70s sit com classic in the best possible way.

 Classic!

This is pure genius. I know the episodes are always on UK Gold and you've seen them all hundreds of times but so what? This DVD comes with a load of added extras including the "real Basil Fawlty" and interviews. Will always be the staple of British Humor.

Buy this and you will not regret it!

This is writing, acting and comic timing at it's best. Have enjoyed a lot of other comedy shows but nothing comes close to the magic of Basil Fawlty and co. Reason it's so good is beacuse everithing is invested into just 12 episodes, rather than making loads of unnecassary episodes just for the cash. Bravo

 A Real Touch Of Class

The word classic is bandied around a bit too much nowadays but this series is one of the greats. An all round masterpiece of writing, acting and comedy.
The series doesnt date and the fact it is well and truely in the 70's adds to the charm.
Basil Fawlty is one of the great tv characters as is Sybil -his gorgon of a wife and Manuel their diminutive Spanish waiter. They have become icons of British television. Every episode is just hysterical and no matter how many times you watch them you just dont tire of them.
The extras disc is great with interviews with members fo the cast and a visit to Torquay to the locations and chats with locals just add to the pleasure of the series.
This is undoubtedly one of great classic comedies of world television and is recommended without any hesitation.
Buy it and love it.

 A Work Of Comedy Art

A disfunctional hotel with a disfunctional owner with a disfuctional marriage! Fawlty Towers is one of, if not the best british comedy ever made. John Cleese is the epitimy of humour in Fawlty Towers with slapstick and witty humour that you will laugh untill you cry at, if it is his wife, butler/porter or his car you are bound to get a laugh out of every situation. The cast gel smoothly also, with Prunella Scales as the wife and Connie Booth as the maid/waitress. If you think about it if you have stayed in a hotel somewhere around the English coast you will have at least one memory of something that has happened and you'll say 'just like in fawlty towers'. It really is that good. Even though only twelve episodes were made the twelve are an outsanding tribute to British comedy. Buy this box set and you will not be disappointed because you can watch the over and over again and you won't get tired of or used to the gags. Overall a must have. Pure genius.
