It is the most remarkable, certainly the most successful, book ever to come out of the great publishing corporations of Ursa Minor. More popular than the Celestial Home Care Omnibus, better selling than Fifty Three Things to Do in Zero Gravity, and more controversial than Oolon Colluphid's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters - Where God Went Wrong, Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes and Who is this God Person Anyway? So that whingeing Earthling Arthur Dent should be very grateful he had a copy!

For after Earth is destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass, Arthur Dent is let loose in the furthest recesses of the Galaxy armed only with the aforementioned mysterious but indispensable Guide. Follow Dent's cosmic adventures as he is joined by his pretty weird companions: Zaphod Beeblebrox, Ford Prefect, Trillian-the-Astrophysicist-he-met-at-a-party-in-Islington and Marvin the manically depressed Android. You never know, they may even find the answer to Life, The Universe and Everything!

Most definately the best ever adaptation of Douglas Adams fantastic novel.
If you've read the books, listened to the radio play or even if you're a H2G2 virgin, then buy this!
If you're not a fan of the books but liked the film, don't buy this. You have already proved you have no sense of taste!

 Classic comedy

Even with the dodgy early doctor who type special effects this knocks spots off the totaly unfunny movie version. Brilliant casting well acted this relys on witty dialogue not special effects to entertain you.

A great observation of people and things at their worst

I remember listening to the radio series with a transitor radio hidden under the blankets. The book was the first proper story I read. The move from radio to TV only added to the thrill of this anarchic story.
Avoid the Movie like Bird Flu but don't let it put you off everything else by Mr Douglas Adams.

 a fururistic classic

I remember seeing this in the early '80s and loved it immediately. You can watch this a hundred times and not get bored. Okay, so I'm a fan. Check out the original Radio progams and read the books. Brilliant. Even the recent film did the book justice.
This is so cheap, it's almost a shame.
English Sci-Fi at it's very best.
