This classic series deals with Allied prisoners of war imprisoned at the supposedly escape-proof Colditz Castle during World War II, and their many attempts to escape captivity, as well as the relationships formed between the various nationalities and their German captors. One memorable episode portrays the attempts of a prisoner, Wing Commander Marsh (Michael Bryant), to get out of Colditz by feigning insanity. He succeeds, but is pushed to the limits of his sanity in the process...

I have been transfixed to the screen by it since seeing it on UKTV history. This is a classic war time drama with a stella cast and acting to match it. The overall setting of Colditz itself coupled with the soundtrack add to the atmospheric approach of each episode.
Some episodes feature action scenes outside of Colditz so it has a good balance of action and POW camp life as well.

If you want to spend nights in watching quality drama's whilst the rain lashes down outside this winter then go for this one, as you wont be disapointed.
