 Too much control?

Rodriguez is a great film maker but does he do too much on each of his films? Just because you can direct, edit, do special effects, and write the score doesn't mean you should.
Once Upon A Time In Mexico is just such a case of too much artistic control. The action, whilst spectacular, is often too confused to be thoroughly enjoyable.
Too many characters spoil the broth and only Depp engages throughout the entire movie as other protagonists fall off the radar, uncared for and unseen.

witty, funny and very intelligent.
Although it is very close to perfect, it is no where near as good as Desperado.
If you like this then see Desperado.
If you like Desperado then see this.
Antonio Banderes makes this film, he is the best thing in this entire piece as well as in Desperado.
Johnny Depp also did well but did not meet the standards of Antonio.
To simplify that, watch this.

 Love this film

Depp makes this film for me, yeah it may not make sense all the way through but that's what make it brilliant

 Rodriguez rules!

Kids films may not be his strong point (spy kids, shark boy) but when it comes to making over the top action movies, few have the style and finesse of Robert Rodriguez.

Apparently, this was made while he was also shooting Spy kids 3!
This doesn't make OUIM any less great though.
The characters are as over the top as the action, the music is great (also by Rodriguez) and the visuals are stunning.

Intelligent? no, not really...just a great fun movie, best watched with a few beers and a few friends.
Loved it.

The Concluding part of the Mariachi Trilogy is an all Star affair with the addition of Mr Johnny Depp.
Once again we have a paper thin plot that leads to plenty of opportunities for Imaginative Gun Play and Action Sequences.
Johnny Depp pretty much steals the show with his quirky turn as a corrupt official, Banderas is his usual Cool, and Salam Hayek has never looked sexier.
All said and done this I a lot of fun and very easy to watch.
