If you loved films like Naked Gun and Hot Shots this is a film you must see. Yes its not very politically correct and im sure it raised a few eyebrows even 30 years ago, but this is a classic comedy.
30 years down the line and ths is still as fresh as the day it was released.
This is as silly as a movie can get with some memorable scenes, particularly around the camp fire and great comedy performances all round. Gene Wilder is his usual great self but the performance from Cleavon Little is remarkable. To face up to such controversial subjects and laugh in the face of many, it is a brilliant performance.
This movie is a real streak of genius from Mel Brooks and put many a smile on faces the world over.
Recent movies have approached the same subjects in more serious ways but Blazing saddles will always be remembered for its silly but intelligent view and as a result, is generally adored.
Its a real shame Cleavon Little didn't have a more successful career following Blazing Saddles.
Definitely one for the collection.
Why isn't this your collection already? It's a classic! One of Brookes' funniest movies of all time! It's right up there with "The Producers" (Zero & Gene version)! With additional scenes? Heck! I think I'll buy it too! Although, the campfire scene is priceless ... Go on ... you'd do it for Randolph Scott!!!
First of all, this is one of the funniest films ever and i recommend that anyone buy it and watch the documentaries with it as there is a joke in one of them that is so funny i nearly cried. After i watched this film i wondered how did the movie censors not clamp down on brooks as much of the film is very racist but very funny too. Watch out for scenes like the farting campfire scene or scene at the start. Comedy of the highest order
apart from the trippy ending this film is amazing. and for 2.99 who can argue? AMAZING
This film is so funny, it should be supplied on prescription! It is not for the easily offended, but if you have the capacity to laugh at yourself and to admit that just maybe it makes you question your attitude to others, watch it. Heck, even if you just want to laugh at the best fart joke ever, watch it!
This film surely ranks along Life Of Brian and Airplane as one of the funniest films ever. I doubt that this film would ever be made today as the PC brigade would be on it like a ton of bricks. The opening scene itself always make me laugh (De camptown ladies) and the all-time classic campfire scene still makes me roar with laughter even though I'm almost 43:-)
Be warned though, even though it is a full on attack against racism, the film does use "The N Word" on many occasions.
Take some painkillers before you watch this as you will be splitting your sides laughing. P.C it ain't but so what ,that what makes it so funny now.
They just dont (cant) make them like this anymore, brilliant and a steal at the price.
A fantastic comedy if ever there was one, I have to say though its not for everyone. There are parts some people may take offence too, but if you are looking for a genuinly funny film then look no futher.
