The story is set in the famous lawless town of Tombstone, Arizona, at a time when all the worst desperados in the territory gather forces into an outlaw gang ironically called “The Cowboys”.

“The Cowboys” number some of the fastest guns and worst reputations in the West. But one day famed lawman Wyatt Earp comes to town with his brothers and their wives, looking for a peaceful place to settle down. But the marauding cowboys make it difficult for anyone to stay out of their way.

Soon Earp’s brothers and his old friend Doc Holliday are taking oaths as lawmen. Earp is drawn, against his will, into a spectacular showdown and shoot out with the Cowboys at the OK Corral. But that’s not the end of the story; not all of the Cowboys were killed in the gunfight, and Earp finds himself and his family threatened by the outlaws.

When his brother Morgan is killed, Earp finally takes the oath as a U.S. Marshal, deputizes some renegade outlaws, and sets out to clean up the town of Tombstone once and for all...

A well made and Highly enjoyable Western

It is a bit of a shame that this film appears to have somewhat disappeared off the radar since it was released. A shame because this is a well acted, well written and very entertaining film. The all-star cast are excellent, Val Kilmer and Micheal Biehn especially. The script is very sharp ('well are you gonna do something, or just stand there and bleed?') and the famous gunfight at the OK Corral was never handled better. It lacks the grittiness of Good Bad and the Ugly or Unforgiven, sometimes coming across as just a bit too polished. Nonetheless, this is an excellent film well worth hunting down

This film is a gripping account of the battle for law and order in the town of Tombstone Arizona in the days of Wyatt Earp. This film has a acting cast of some of Hollywoods heavyweights and the performance of Doc Holliday by Val Kilmer is second to none. The film itself tells the story with great direction with you getting a feel of the life back then and just how ruthless some people can be (Cowboys) and what it takes to stand up to them to bring some law and order into the world, this film is not to be missed and is one of the best westerns around (Still can't beat Clint Eastwood.)

I'm not specially into Westerns but I caught 'Tombstone' on TV late one night but missed the first 30 minutes. I couldn't move from the screen 'til the credits roled.

Great acting - Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday (Wow!) and all the rest. Terrific and beautiful camera work ..... and based on true events.

I bought a used copy from PlayTrade and will keep it 'til it wears out! Just bought a 37" Panasonic HD LCD and it looks even better. It was first DVD I tried on the new TV! Looks even better and the 5:1 soundtrack ..... turn the sound way up high and dodge the bullets!

Can it be true that neither Val Kilmer nor the film were even put forward for an Oscar by the film company? Now you can't buy a new disk at regular price unless you get a Region 1 version for your multi region player. Something wrong here.

Fantastic, fantastic movie.
