Not before time- but worth the wait!

Hell Drivers is something of a classic of British cinema, notable perhaps less for the story- though this is still pretty gripping- than for the cast, made up of a huge number of actors who would nearly all go on to much greater things.
Apart from the occasional sighting on TV, it has been very difficult to get this film in any form for many years. Up until this release, earlier now-deleted releases were often fetching pretty steep money on the collecting market. So it's been a long wait, but Network DVD have done themselves proud in putting this set together. The discs contain not only a great copy of the film but just about every conceivable scrap of promo materials, extra features and supporting information that could relate in any possible way to the movie. Also included is a booklet explaining in a comprehensive academic manner the full role of this little gem in British cinema.
To give an outline of the story itself in this review is somewhat unneccessary since it's available fully in many other places, such as the IMDB, and it's likely that only those already familiar with and enamoured of the film will really be interested in purchasing this set. But for those that do, you most certainly could not possibly be disappointed with your buy.
Congratulations to Network DVD for such a stunning and exhaustingly thorough job.

 One hell of a film!

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

They sure don`t make films like this anymore. A British star cast including Stanley Baker, Patrick McGoohan, a young Sean Connery, Herbert Lom, Gordon Jackson and even Sid James. Been waiting many years for this to come out on DVD, and it was well worth the wait, being a 2 disc edition with fantastic extras, a really good audio commentary, and my little favourite gem (but a bit cheesy), the murder/mystery film "Who killed Lamb?" starring Stanley Baker from the 70s. 5 stars for definate!

 Magnificent!

An engaging and often violent portrayal of life outside prison and trying to get a job.
Stanley Baker plays the ex-con to perfection trying to
scratch out a living for unscrupulous haulage owner
Hawlett (William Hartnell) and the leading driver Red(Patrick McGoohan). Wonderful performances from a quite famous cast and one of my favourite films.

A classic black and white film

I was amazed when I found this classic old film avaliable on DVD from Play. It's great, and seeing a cast who at the time were mostly unheard of (a young Sean Connery) and seeing where thay are now.

Been waiting years to be able to upgrade my recorded from TV VHS version of what has become and remains a bit of a classic of British Cinema. Love it!
