Hailed as a masterpiece by critics and audiences alike, Lonesome Dove brings to life all the magnificent drama and romance of the West. Winner of seven Emmy Awards, and one of the highest rated miniseries in television history, this exciting re-creation of Larry McMurtry's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel captured the American pioneer spirit with its sweeping story and inspired performances.

Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones and Anjelica Huston star in the tale of two former Texas Rangers who leave the South Texas town of Lonesome Dove on an epic 2500-mile cattle drive to the lush ranch country of Montana.

Already a collectible classic, Lonesome Dove is based on a novel by Pulitzer Prize winnner Larry McMurtry. This edition has been completely digitally re-mastered.

This superb wetern has been greatly enhanced by the new re-mastered version, it looks and sounds terrific on a HD screen. If you already own the original DVD release and wondered if it was worth buying the new version - believe me it is, you will not be disappointed.

 The best western ever made

What? Call yourself a western fan and never seen this masterpiece?? Based closely on Larry McMurtry's epic novel, it is both a testament to the Old West and to the extraordinary power of human relationships. Without once being sentimental, it manages to be deeply moving, particularly in the undemonstrative but profound friendship between Robert Duvall's 'Gus' and Tommy Lee Jones' Woodrow Call as they trail a herd of cattle from Texas to Montana. Never have two actors inhabited their roles so perfectly. The dialogue is crisp and restrained, the action scenes exciting and credible and the story unfolds with a true sense of many journeys made and ended. If you like your westerns philosophical as well as full of the usual western ingredients of Indians, cattle, horses, gunfights, gold-hearted whores and two pigs (!), then you'll love this series. Unmissable.

 Spectacular saga!
