Clint Eastwood is outstanding as director and star in this savage American Civil War western. Eastwood plays a man whose family have been killed by murderous soldiers. The only thing on his mind is vengeance.And from here he goes on a mission to track them down, along the way meeting a quiet girl(Sondra Locke) and an eccentric Native American(Chief Dan George). A superb film

Admittedly i am a huge Clint fan but if i was to choose one of his films against all others it would be this.In my view the greatest western(closely followed by Good the Bad and the Ugly)to have ever graced our screens with Clint Eastwood on top form with some fantastic lines from the man himself which easily beat the "Dirty Harry" quotes he is famous for. A great partnership with an ageing indian adds a humour to the film and proved that Clint Eastwood is one fantastic director as well as actor.

Clint directs shear brilliance in a genre that he has spent half his life being involved in.Here it all comes to a climax as he stars and directs this movie in which he portrays the lead role of 'josey'. This is not a gloryfied western this depicts the harsh reality of life at the end of what was the American civil war,he stuns the screen and his quest is evident through out a must see movie for the dirty,gunslinging madness that is this movie.AWESOME

this movie is one of the best westerns ever and clint eastwood is truly a legend and if people like this i recommend oer movies like fistful of dollors, a few dollars more and hang em high
