In the days of silent film serials, one of the noblest trios to grace the screen and get the bad guys was the Three Amigos: Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase), Lucky Day (Steve Martin) and Ned Nederlander (Martin Short). But when their Hollywood glory days wane, they receive a letter from a desperate community in Mexico that thinks their heroic characters are for real: they want the Three Amigos to come to their tiny Mexican village and defeat the notorious bandit El Guapo (Alfonso Arau).

Unfortunately, the Three Amigos misinterpret the letter - they're off to visit the Mexican village dressed as their movie characters, thinking they're getting a high paying gig. A plethora of pinatas and a comedy of errors occurs before they can prove themselves as worthy as their screen heroes!

Directed by John Landis (Animal House, Trading Places), here is an uproarious comedy about three lovable bumblers who are in way over their heads but come what may, they'll always remain the Three Amigos!

I got to say that this film was ok but not the best Steve Martin film to his career but he was the funniest in this film. I only laughed at certain bits of the movie but some scenes were more focused on the bad guys and you feel like saying we want more comedy. But overall a fun movie with three great comedy actors Martin, Chase and Short were very funny in their costumes

More visual gags than you can shake a singing bush at...

Wherever there is unjustice you will find us, wherever there is suffering we'll be there, wherever liberty is threatened you will find...three blokes acting the fool in spangly costumes. But they do it with such finesse! This film is genius from start to finish with more visual gags than you can shake a singing bush at. The premise; three goofball has been wild west actors are mistaken for the real thing and are commisioned to scare off the bandits who are threatening a small village out in the desert. Enter Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short and couple them with the comedic ingenuity of the director John Landis and you have a sure fire winner. Why more people don't love this film is beyond my comprehension, it is simply daft as a brush fun. Embrace the silliness and forever Amigo's we'll beeeeeeeeeee.

I was 7 when this film came out and I though it was funny and had a clever plot.
Im a huge fan of Landis and love most of his films.

I watched this film last night for the first time since around 1989 and I can say this has to be the worst film Ive ever seen along with Spies Like Us.
Avoid with all cost and get American Werewolf instead. Or Trading Places. Or Coming To America. Or any other Landis film.
