Trouble-prone teen Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out school - but that's the least of his problems. The gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology texts and into his life - and they're not happy. Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now, Percy and his friends must embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true thief, save Percy's family, and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Some complain that the movie has lost some of the magic that the books had. I can't comment as I never read them, but as a movie it's a excellent family adventure. judgeing by some of the other reviews it looks like the star of the movie has a huge following, again I can't comment, but my daughter did say he was fit..if that's anything to go by?
The movie is fast paced as the group of demi-gods go to prove their innocence of stealing The lightening rod of the gods, and much fun is to be had on their adventures as they come across Medusa and other creatures of the underworld including a very funny cameo by Steve( Alan Partridge)Coogan. The film never takes it self too serious and this is the back bone of the enjoyment. Most of the special effects are great, but a few could have had a litte more time on them as they seem a little rushed, but this is due to get the movie released before the other mythical gods adventure Clash of the Titans. Director Chris Columbus does a pretty good job on the direction, and makes the movie far leaner than his attempts at the first two stodgy Potter chapters, but you can't help wounder what the movie could have been like with a better director.
This is a movie the whole family can watch and hopefully this will not be the last we see of Percy Jackson.
See if you liked ...
The Harry Potter series. 2001-2010.
Clash of the Titans. 1981 & 2010.
Jason and the Argonauts .1963.
Eragon. 2005 (if anybody on the planet liked it)

I enjoyed the film, the Hydra part has to have been the best part of the film for me.
The only let down was the slight lack of knowledge in the whole 'Greek Mythology' part. They proclaim in the beginning of the film that Percy (Perseus) is the son of Poseidon, when in actual fact Perseus is one of the many sons of Zeus due to his erotic escapades. I know it's a minor thing but it doesn't take 5mins to even look it up.

All in all 4/5 Stars, enjoy!!

I saw this film before I read the books and thought it was brilliant. It doesn't take itself too seriously and its a very easy watch. The books are amazing and the film does differ from the book a lot but they are both really good in their own way! Watch it to find out!
