Soaring into its ninth season, this modern retelling of the Superman legend and its classic characters continues to blend realism, action and emotional depth to reveal a new interpretation of the enduring mythology. This season, as Metropolis's clock tower tolls our characters' darkest hour, we find Clark Kent (series star Tom Welling) finally making his first attempts to embrace his calling as a superhero.

In the season premiere, Clark tells Jor-El he's ready to start his training, but Jor-El sends him back to Metropolis to cut ties with Lois before he can begin. Chloe (series star Allison Mack) is shocked when Lois (series star Erica Durance) suddenly reappears after having been missing for weeks -- but Lois has no recollection of vanishing into thin air with the Legion ring. While investigating a monorail crash, Lois meets John Corben (guest star Brian Austin Green - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), a new reporter at The Daily Planet, with a negative attitude toward the "Red-Blue Blur." Chloe begs Clark to use the Legion ring to go back in time to save Jimmy, but he refuses, driving a wedge into their friendship. Meanwhile, Oliver (series star Justin Hartley) continues down a dark road, and Zod (new series star Callum Blue) arrives at the Luthor mansion.

  • Kneel Before Zod - The evolution of a classic evil character
  • Absolute Justice - From script to screen, introducing the venerable Justice Society of America heroes into Smallville's universe
  • Deleted scenes

Absolutely brilliant season, continues where season 8 left off. As with season 8 they are really developing the show into Superman and left smallville behind having clark become the blur as embracing his calling. The show introduced Major/General Zod into the show which was a brilliant idea, Callum Blue was superb as Zod bringing life to the character and unlike the doomsday arc the series finale lived up to expectations.

The series was also very good for the likes of Lois lane now featured far more prominatly (About time) and actually putting her in a relationship with Clark, something I really enjoyed this year. Another character i felt did well this year is Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) Who had a nice fallen hero arc before returing as the green arrow and getting in on the overall plot line.

Overall I thought this was a fantastic season and can't wait for season 10. I'd like to see them wrap it up now and send it out in a bang. Lets get rid of the Blur and introduce Superman and do it with some style.

 Smallville grows up!

I've been watching this show since the very start and all i can say is that each season just gets better and better.
Season 9 has so many good episodes and awesome moments.
Clarks development getting closer and closer to becoming Superman.
Lois Lane is absolutley brilliant and it's great to see more of her.
Chloe also loved her. She develops some in season 9 too.
Ollie, one of my favourite characters and like in the previous seasons he's been in, he was great in this too and had his own storyline in the first half of the season.
Best part of the season is the two hour long episode, Absolute Justice, at some points i thought that acting from the protagonist was a little overboard but still a very enjoyable episode.
All in all, if you liked the previous eight seasons, you'll love this season. And if you haven't seen the previous seasons, get to it. Because in season 10 it looks to the past a lot and you might not understand some things mentioned and plots etc.

Now i'm just sad that season 10 is the end! :(
