Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino both roar and get 'bloody satisfaction' in QT's fourth film, a more than worthy entry into his list of ingenious movies.

Unfortunately the film was split in two and what was meant to be his fourth film became his fourth and 'new' movie, the film should really be watched back to back with volume two but maybe the split made the film even more endearing, people watch volume one and go for a rollercoaster of a ride that sets up the climax for volume two.

Uma Thurman is amazing in possibly her best role ever, showing just how good of an actress she really is and why she is considered one of QT's girls. If Uma had not of taken the role i doubt the film would have been the film it is today. Lucy Lui is also great in a memorable role as one of the bride's old 'co-workers' her origin is also shown in an anime type cartoon which also adds to the surreal world of Kill Bill.

The first Volume holds five chapters, all shown out of chronological order, but after seeing volume two it will all fit together like a jigsaw, it does sound confusing but this is QT after all. The final showdown is excellent and half shown in black and white, probably to keep the blood off the screen because, yes, it is bloody messy.

Quentin's choice of music really fits well with the films eastern tones meets western for the second volume, merging the two tones together as the merge of the two films approach.

The first volume does stand alone well but it really does have to be seen with its counterpart, here characters are set up and back story ready for the climax to come. Tarantino really is the best at what he does and this is probably his fourth best movie, he does have more to offer but for some reason holds back a bit, but don't let that put you off this is an amazing piece of cinema.

Once she is out her quest for 'Vengeance' begins. It takes her to Vernita Green played wonderfully by Vivica A. Fox in a small but quite memroble role. Here Tarantino shows he can direct action even if it is on a small scale up to now, the sequance where Green's daughter returns home from school to see the Bride and her mother clearly bloodied and battered with house hold items destroyed around them is memorable and brings abit of humour to the fold.

There are alot of plot holes in the story as the film carries on but it's all very watchable stuff with most of the holes filled in in the 2nd installment. The photography by Robert Richardson (Casino/The Good Shepherd) is particularly impressive as is the production design by regular Tarantino collaborator David Wasco. There is also a cameo from action film legend Sonny Chiba who is a huge influance on the work on display here, also making a cameo is Gordan Liu, famous for his work in kung fu films, famously his work on the Shaw Brother's films, which are also heavily influencing the proceeding here.

The plot soon sends the Bride to Japan for a show down with Lucy Liu's charater O-Ren Ishii, the performance on show here is comedic in parts and ruthless in others, particularly in a scene when one of her thugs is unhappy with her half Chinses Half Japanese heritage, leading him to be beheaded with a samurai sword. There is even a nice little animated montage about her roots and upbringing. The Brides show down at the House of the Blue Leaves with the Crazy 88 and one on one with O-Ren Ishii are well done and viseral in there execution.

All in all this film is a minor triumph from a talented director, although not as good as his earlier Pulp Fiction or the outstanding Jackie Brown it still certainly packs a punch, just a diffrent kind of punch. the cast are all on form although the dialogue is at times clunky, Uma Thurman is clearly enjoying being involved with this film though and it seems like a labour of love for Tarantino. The music is also spot on as usual from a Tarantino film. It's violent, funny, serious and one hell of a ride.
