The complete third series of this much loved classic crime TV show featuring 14 episodes, uncut and digitally remastered!

A brilliant, fast-paced series, The Professionals chronicles the lives and exploits of the men of covert British security unit CI5 (Criminal Intelligence 5), in particular the unit's top operative partnership of ex-cop Ray Doyle (Martin Shaw) and former mercenary and ex-SAS paratrooper William Bodie (Lewis Collins) and their superior officer, the gruff but fatherly George Cowley (Gordon Jackson). With a mandate to counter terrorism, threats to national security and similar high profile crimes by "any means necessary", and with nobody to trust but each other, Bodie and Doyle have no time or inclination for subtlety when it comes to getting the job done!

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Box set 3 of "The Professionals" gives us more of the same: guns, cars and explosions. The lads are back fighting the usual motley selection of drug traffickers, hijackers, bombers and slimy double agents living in luxurious country mansions.

The action is still impressively orchestrated and the stories move at a brisk pace. However, it is clear from watching these episodes that there is little in them that hasn't been done before in the earlier episodes and probably done better. Similarly, Lewis Collins and Martin Shaw are settled in their roles but don't seem particularly interested in what they are doing.

No episodes really stand out this time, but there are no really bad ones either. "The gun" is a strange story that many fans loathe, but it actually works rather well as a "rogue" episode.

It's useful to be able to watch the episodes in production order. Once again, the absence of extras is a real annoyance.
