'Artificial Intelligence' is the story of David (Haley Joel Osment), the first mecha (a futuristic term for a mechanized human being) designed with the ability to love. A couple whose son is in a coma "adopts" David to help them recover from their loss. Naturally, things do not go as planned, and David is forced to leave the mother (Frances O'Connor) he's been "imprinted" to love, and make his way in the world. Traveling with Teddy, a hi-tech stuffed bear, David escapes the Flesh Fair, where angry humans destroy mechas to "purge artificiality," and unexpectedly befriends Gigolo Joe (Jude Law), a robot designed to pleasure women. Joe agrees to help David in his quest to become human.

One of the Legendary Stanley Kubricks's dream projects directed by Steven Speilberg.
The film is at time very sad story Love & Belonging
It's a little cold at times, but also has Speilbergs trademark schmaltz at times, which I'm sure Kubrick would have avoided.
The ending comes in for a bit of slack, but I personally liked it.
Haley Joel Osment was Exceptional, and I personally felt he should have got a nomination at the Oscars that year.
Jude Law was very good in a strange kinda role.
It is very well Directed and has some Brilliant Effects
Overall it's not going to be everyones thing but I think it is an engaging and thoughtful experience and definitely worth a watch
I must confess i never much fancied watching this but for some reason or another i ended updoing so and i am really pleased i did! Its not often a film touches me but this film managed to. The basic story being a robot boy gets adopted by a couple who several years later have a real child and as they grow up the two boys do not get along so the couple choose to ditch the robot boy in a wood miles away and move on with their life! The robot boy then goes on a journey to find how to become a real boy so his adoptive parents love him as much as their real son.Haley Joel Osment is just fantastic as the robot boy . One fault is there is not much happiness in the film its all very sad with a touching ending neither happy or sad. Still an unbelievably moving ,well acted movie that i would give 3.5 stars but close to 4 stars
At the cinema people were actually walking out. I'm surprised to see it's only 2 hours 20 mins - felt like twice that, so in some respects a value DVD.
If only they ended it about 30 mins before, it could have scraped through as a passable film. They didn't though and it is pants.
Blade Runner or I Robot (even Bicentennial Man) if you want futuristic.
I don't know how so many people can criticise a film of such a great calibre. I've seen this film five times over the past 8 years and each time, I find it amazing. From the vast array of comments, I'd say just pick it up and watch it yourself to see what yout hink. I was going to buy it but as a student £15 is too precious to waste on any DVD - no matter how good it is. :p
