Really impressive stuff, top quality acting and a great story with some tough subjects, all this handled with respect.
A man,now a woman, all but his penis,is just about coping with life when there is a phonecall revealing she has a son, fathered when she was a he.
She seeks him out, bails him out and ends up going on a journey, you could argue,a journey of self-discovery. The teen has clearly got problems and those are soon revealed, then explains why he is so confused.
The woman i'm willing to consider her to be,is clealry struggling with herself and other matters that also become clear as the film goes on.
This is a film that looked good when i saw it advertized and did not disppoint upon viewing. You do wonder if the big reveal is coming to the son,or more to the point, when. There are enough comical moments to lighten the mood, all be it done quite dryly, but it all comes down to being a very impressive film with a difference. A woman playing a man trying to be a woman. I can't see many who like the idea of this movie, not enjoying it,it's that good.

This film really is something special. The acting from Felicity Huffman is amazing. She does such a great job of conveying her character and makes it completely realistic. She should have one an oscar for this role. the film has so many ups and downs and really keeps you gripped. The controversail matter of sex change, and pre op transexuals is handled with dignity and acted superbly. I really cannot recommened this film enough and at such a cheap price it is well worth the money. Buy this while it is so cheap.

Fellicity Huffman's performance is so utterly convincing that you genuinly forget that she is actually female in real life. It is easy to become immersed in her complex world and her struggle to become a woman. Her fear of being discovered a fraud is so tangible it keeps you rivited to your seat. A wonderful journey.

A film, that despite its subject, is a very positive experience to watch. All the characters, are in effect good characters or are created to move the story in the right direction. It's rare to see a film which not only provides great lead performances, but also great supporting cast performances. I can't recommend this film enough. Buy it, you wont be disappointed.

Initially some viewers might find Felicity Huffman's prissy and naïve transsexual a tad annoying. I know I did. But it's testament to Huffman's performance that one quickly warms to her. And it's around this performance that the entire movie revolves. Although the script never quite lives up to Huffman's bravura, it does come close enough to make this an endearing and engaging movie. Aside from these minor shortcomings, and some occasionally contrived humour, this is a thoughtful, life-affirming piece. Well worth watching.

If you aren't sure whether or not to buy this, I will tell you to click the add to basket button right now. Not only is this movie funny and original, it's also incredibly raw and unlike any other movie I've seen. Definitely worth seeing, and it's dirt cheap too, so you might as well.

This film for me opitimises the transgender life to a t. Felicity Huffman as the lead character is so brilliant. You forget that this is actually a biological woman. An absolute corker of a movie.
Hankerchiefs at the ready.

This is a film anyone that anyone who has been through the ordeal of Transition, or anyone that is just curious should see.
Miss huffman's sensitive performance shows many of the insecurites, contradictions and desperation that Transsexuals face to fit into everyday life.
There are laughs, smiles and a few tears as she attempts to gain acceptance from her family and her estranged son.
Not a film someone wanting to see a gay movie...
