In 1977 Voyager II was launched into space, inviting all lifeforms in the universe to visit our planet. Get ready. Company's coming.
When his spacecraft is shot down over Wisconsin, Starman (Bridges) arrives at the remote cabin of a distraught young widow, Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen), and clones the form of her dead husband. The alien convinces Jenny to drive him to Arizona, explaining that if he isn't picked up by his mothership in three days, he'll die. Hot on their trail are government agents, intent on capturing the alien, dead or alive. En route, Starman demonstrates the power of universal love, while Jenny rediscovers her human feelings for passion.

This film is so wonderful, I completely adore it.
Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen are superb.
It's kind of like E.T.:The Extra-Terrestrial, only the alien is super-foxy and sweet (I defy any woman not to fall under his spell) and it's about romantic loss rather than paternal loss.
It doesn't rely on special effects, what it does have in that area are a little dated but the story and characters are so compelling you don't mind.
It's extremely emotive and never fails to have me bawling my eyes out by the end.
Wonderful

Jeff Bridges is fantastic as the visiting Alien in this wonderful Character Driven story. A classic and a must see.
Money well spent

A very good, well acted and presented movie. Covers a variety of emotions. The lack of many special effects makes it even better. Although it may be argued that more could have been done in this respect.
