The Squid And The Whale

The plot moves quicker than you'd expect, which is a welcome surprise. And, not one performance is less than outstanding.

The character of the younger brother is astonishing, and Linney and Daniels are at their best too, so worth a gander just for those two innit.

I had wanted to see this film for ages and bought it on a bit of a whim. As much as I wanted to I really couldn't like it, it was at best, alright in places, but I just didn't like any of the characters, and as a result, just really didn't like the film.

This film is not for the mainstream lovers out there. If you want a lot from a film every second it's on your scream I suggest you look elsewhere. The Squid and the Whale produces small fantastic bursts of "action".

Set in the late 80's surrounding a family that has been corrupted by it's parent the Squid and the Whale brings to life the real blows of divorce and the shocking effects of the aftershock. Watch as the children slowly fall into holes and are unable to get out until there eyes become open.

The ending somewhat abrupt was satisfying in my eyes seen as Noah Baumbach was working on his own true story.

Perfectly written,acted, directed..all you could want in a drama.a dark comedy involving a recently separated family(jeff daniels, laura linney and sons jesse eisenberg and owen kline).

A very true and realistic reflection on divorce, I enjoyed Jeff Daniels in his arrogant writer role.
Very enjoyable film if you like films like garden state, lost in translation etc.
