This is by far the best in the series, and for me still Murphy's best film. It's still feels fresh and as funny today, as it did way back in 1984. It just shows what a raw talent Murphy has.
The fish out of water story rattles along from one comic moment to the next. As Murphy takes on a shady Drugs smuggler headed by the excellent Steven Burkoff . Burkoff must be the best bad guy ever, with this role, and the one he played in Rambo. He just oozes menace and charm. All the characters are excellent. Also not forgetting the theme tune, Pity that bloody crazy frog destroyed the tunes reputation. An Excellent movie and far better than the sequels.

I agree with the previous review of this film. This is Eddie Murphy's best film. He plays the character of Axel Foley brilliantly & his comic timing is spot on. There is good support from Judge Reinhold & John Ashton as characters Billy & Taggart. Steven Berkoff is brilliant as Victor Maitland & has great chemistry with Murphy throught the film. It may have been show on TV loads of times already but it's still worth seeing un-edited. Similar to Die Hard in that the sequels were nowhere near as good as the original. A true 80s classic.
