El Dorado (John Wayne)

A very good all time classic with strong acting from Mitcham and John Wayne.

These dvd's are so inexpensive now, possibly because bluray is now out and quite cheap itself. However a lot of these old time movies don't look that much different on bluray to the original standard dvd version.

I would put this on a par with Rio Bravo. A previous reviewer commented on the supposed cheesiness of Rio Bravo. That film is not cheesy, it's a feel good movie. So you got that compeltely wrong!!

For any TRUE Duke fan, I would recomend seeing this film and Rio Bravo equally.

being a duke fan for many years, this is one of his quintessential roles. Howard Hawks finest film in my opinion, and the supporting cast are excellent, James Caan in one of his early film roles is a bit green about the gills as a fighter, but not in his acting... if you want to watch a film and see how they were properly made, this is one for you.. the dialogue is just brilliant and doesnt slink into cheesiness like Rio Bravo did... a forgotten classic

Part of the John Wayne Paramount Collection, El dorado is another brilliant western! Directed by Howard Hawks in 1966 and featuring Robert Mitchum and James Caan it tells of the life of an alcoholic sheriff, his freinds, and the corruption of cattle barons in the west.
£3.99 is a bargain for this dvd and it should be in any western collection. Nice one Play!
