Bond is back!
Back to the beginning of James Bond's career, MI6's newest recruit (Daniel Craig, the first blonde 007) is tasked with taking down a man known as "Le Chiffre" (Mads Mikkelsen), a money launderer for terrorists who is raising operational funds at a high-stakes poker game in the exclusive Montenegro establishment of Casino Royale...
Exhilarating, breathless and at times brutal, this is the first Bond adventure since 1987 to be based on one of Ian Fleming's original novels. Paul Haggis (Oscar winning writer/director of Crash) adapts Casino Royale for a new generation as Daniel Craig, new Aston Martin DBS in tow, fills out the tuxedo of the ultra-smooth and ultra-deadly superspy.

GoldenEye was always my favourite Bond film, and Casino Royale, coming from the same director, easily equalled it. Bond needed a reboot after becoming too silly in Die Another Day, and Daniel Craig was just the man. He successfully handles the arrogant persona, sly humour and the characteristic changes that Bond has to go through during the film, as well as all the brutally realistic action sequences. It also follows the book very closely, apart from the obligatory final action sequence which sees a Venice building spectacuarly sinking in to the water.
Better than Goldeneye

Goldeneye in my view is proberbly the best James Bond film i have seen, out of all 23.(the other 2 films are, Never say never again and the orignal Casino Royal featuring David Niven). Casino Royale is far better than its predisesers. But, and its a big but, it is Lacking the comical apperance of John cleese and a decent length car chase, and also the poker scene drags on for too long. But these are only minor details, it is a fantastic movie and is well deserving of its 5 star rating.
Does what it's meant to do

This movie did what it was made to do, bring credibility back to Bond, and it did, through emotionally tieing fans back to a legendary hero. That's what they wanted, that's what they got, nobody cared about bind anymore, but this movie changed all that, and the makers are capitalising on this emotional link between bond and the fans with the next film, this move was a bit long and slow for me, but thats my individual opinion, it works for most. 1 star cut as it wasnt quite my taste.
