The Master of Horror unleashes everything you were ever afraid of....

A series of murders prompts Mike Hanlon to suspect that the supernatural menace that he and a group of friends battled as children has returned. He begins to call his friends to remind them of the oath they swore: if It returned again, they would come back to Derry to do battle again...

  • Audio commentary from Dennis Christopher, Tim Reid, John Ritter, Richard Thomas and director Tommy Lee Wallace

 Dvd plays on both sides

First of, this dvd plays on both sides. Part 1 as normal then you need to flip the disc over for part 2. I luckily found out about this through other customer reviews. It's very annoying to say the least when you start watching this movie and then think you only got half the product. The movie is a very enjoyable psychological horror though nowhere near as good as the book. So try not to compare it otherwise you will be very disappointed. I very much enjoyed the acting and the flashbacks though the ending could have been better.

A horror must - It will still scare you to death

Well, scare you to death until the 'It' clown is revelaed for what 'It' really is at the end. I won't spoil it if you haven't seen 'It' before but in the 2 hours leading up to this point you are kept in suspense and truly horrified by that evil clown.

Played in a lost style back flash. the young stars of the film remember the taking of a friend when they were little by 'It'. As the clown reappears they aim to stop him.

Long, as it was made as a TV mini series this 3 hour plus movie will scare you everytime you see a clown.

 Overlong But Decent Enough.

IT (1990) is a TV movie based on Stephen King's epic horror novel. The cast includes Richard Thomas, John Ritter, Seth Green, Jonathan Brandis, Annette O'Toole and Tim Curry.

The novel by King was a big epic read with plenty of characterization. This movie doesn't really capture that detail despite it's 3 hour run time. In fairness the epic storyline of the novel make it practically unfilmable anyway.

The cast are very good especially the kids. A young Seth Green is almost unrecognisable and Jonathan Brandis really steals the show with a standout performance.

Director Tommy Lee Wallace (Halloween III) makes the best use of his low-budget effects and creates a couple of scary moments but unfortunately the movie gets a little boring because of its long runtime.

This DVD is fairly decent and has some nice extras including a director and cast commentary but be warned the DVD is double sided and stops half way through requiring you to get up and switch the disc over.

 Amazing but...

Not as good as the book. :P Having lived in a world since I was about 6 where I watched this movie a stupid amount of times but never read the book this movie is awesome.

However, after reading the book I realised how much the movie left out and how much scarier the book actually is.

However, (again) the movie still gets 5 stars because it does have some stupidly scary bits in it and I still love it and always will. Hoping the rumoured remake is coming though as its meant to be a whole hour longer.

Get to see a little Seth Green (Buffy the vampire slayer) and little Emily Perkins (Ginger Snaps) too, which is always funny.

 Not to bad a film!!

I think this film contributed to my utter dislike and slight fear of clowns, but still really enyoyed watching it at the same time.
The only thing i would say against it is that the ending is a bit of a let down in comparison to the rest of the film.
