This heart warming movie is based on a novel by 'Billie Lett' It is simply a compelling and absorbing film starring the terrific 'Natalie Portman' as 'Novalee' The cast give great performances in this story which follows the challanges, and the difficult trail of a mother too young. In the end, the movie celebrates the way families evolve -- those consisting of relatives and those we choose for ourselves -- and the ability of the characters to persevere in the face of adversity and tragedy, cruelty and their own insecurities.
The moral of this story being that the destination is not as important as the journey. And while the ride can be bumpy, it also brings some modest rewards.
