Top 10 DVD Reviewer

The storyline has no mysterious meanings or plots- this involves Bruce Willis escorting a witness (who has seen dishonest police at work) 16 blocks-hence the name- to court where he intends to give evidence. It's understandable to think this may be slightly weak, but it could actually surprise you with the amount this film has to offer. Mos Def very annoyingly but at the same time comically plays the witness with a hard to forget voice, and together with Willis, must find a way to bypass the NYPD force who stand in their way wherever they may think to go. The connection that develops between protector-witness is believable and adds character to the film, and the personal touches, such as the witness' dreams, or the riddle that's repeated throughout allows 16 Blocks to deserve more credit than it initially seems to do- give it a try.

Up until that Mos Def was shot after over an hour of the movie, I kept wishing that someone would shoot him or at least gag him. His incessant cartoon talking voice drove me to contemplate turning the sound off completely.

The storyline is the same in many ways to that of Clint Eastwood & Sondra Locke in The Gauntlet from 1977. That did not put me off it was excellent except for the idiot with the cartoon voice, I would have been happier to listen to someone scratching a blackboard with their nails.

Once again the supporting cast member David Morse was brilliant and intimidating as he can be. Would have given the movie 5 stars but for..................

I didn't realise until the credits that this was a Richard Donner film; he's on top form here (think Lethal Weapon), and the result is a taut, engaging and nonsense-free movie. The three leads (Bruce Willis, Mos Def and always brilliant David Morse) play it like they're having fun, and it shows.

Lots of reviews (elsewhere on the web) say this film is rubbish - don't believe them, they're 100% wrong and it's a gem.

Absolutely gripping from the start, I thought Bruce Willis played the hopeless/revived cop brilliantly and equally impressive was Mos Def at playing the harmless ghetto criminal who really draws you into his character without flaws!! Action packed all the way!!

A very enjoyable film, proving just what a great actor Bruce Willis is. I agree with reviewer who said Mos Def was difficult to understand. I had to rewind DVD several times to catch his dialogue. However that didn't spoil the film. Highly recommended.

Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Better than i Thought it would be

great action packed film with twists and turns
only problem is it is hard to understand what Mos Def is saying half of the time.
