Winner of the Jury Prize, Cannes Film Festival 2009, Andrea Arnold's acclaimed film Fish Tank scooped the 2010 BAFTA for Outstanding British Film.

In Fish Tank, 15 year old Mia's life is turned on its head when her mum brings home a new boyfriend. Director Andrea Arnold casts the same unflinching, unprejudiced gaze and touches on the themes of her Oscar-winning short Wasp to create an original and unsettling tale for our age.

Following his acclaimed central performance in Hunger, Michael Fassbender stars opposite talented newcomer Katie Jarvis. Rounding out the principal cast are BAFTA-nominated Kierston Wareing, Harry Treadaway and 12 year old Rebecca Griffiths making her film debut.

 Outstanding!

The best film that I have seen this year by light stratospheres (and that includes the obscenely overrated Hurt Locker) Brilliantly observed and as gritty as a full cat litter tray. It proves that you don't need to fritter big budgets on films for them to hit you between the eyes (hello Avatar!!!!!)

 Not really predictable

I disagree with the review that suggests Fish Tank is predictable. Personally I found it to be the complete opposite. The great thing about this film is that it is about the characters emotions more than the plot. That's not to say that the story doesn't have a great plot that is well measured. If you read a synopsis of the film the ending might seem uninteresting, but the way in which Arnold steers the viewers emotions, the ending is spectacular. In my opinion this is the best film of the last five years. I'm not sure too many other people go as far to say it was that good, but it is certainly worth a watch and has some very memorable scenes. It's a real beauty! The DVD also contains the directors Oscar winning short film Wasp, which is equally amazing. This DVD is really a two for one bargain!!!

 A must see film

The film is the best Ive seen all year ( I go to the cinema up to 5 times week.) The film does have a dark side but is very true to life. Mixed with the storey behind the film to do with Katie Jarvis who was spotted by a member of the casting crew having an argument on a train station platform with her boyfriend

one of the best films i've seen in a long time

It is beautifully shot with a touching but invetive story of a young girl with a dream and a harsh upbringing. It has moments of laughter, shock and absolute magic. I think that this film depicts life in that area quite well and shows relationships of a family that isn't neccesarily close and how one person can change that but also ruin that. The actress has never been in a feature film before and has raw un trained talent that is very believable. As a character she is instantly likeable even with her tongue and cheek attitude. I would reccommend anyone to give this film a chance it's magical and unmissable. I thouroughly enjoyed it. :D thank you Andrea Arnold

 Boring and very straight laced

Top 100 Toys Reviewer

I have got to say, I believe this is one of the most boring films I have seen in a very long time. Nothing much happens, and what does happen in the story, it is all blown quickly under the carpet.

You had these god awful scenes of some of the most cringey dance moves I have ever seen that just seemed to reappear throughout the movie. You also had shots without any editing or dialogue, it was so boring to watch. There wasn't much dialogue in the film throughout, and when there was, it was very poor.

I don't understand why people are praising the performances that much, it wasn't anything special, infact it was quite bad.

I will never watch this film again, I am very disappointed in a film in which I thought showed alot of promise.
