Fisrt of all,i'll be honest that i haven't read the book,so i don't how different it is or if it would change my opinion of this film, but i doubt it.
It's a story of how this young girl wants the rights to her own body and to say yes or no to helping her sister, who is dying from cancer.
It'a subject that's awkward because it can't really be fair on someone created for the special purpose of keeping their older sister alive, but this isn't to say the love isn't there,it certainly is. So when, after many operations, the younger sister claims enough is enough, how can you argue with that?
Of course we go further into the story and things have more of a backstory than first would appear.
It's a film that feature's a bittersweet love, charmingly done. It's a film with humour that comes at times it's needed. It's a film that tackles some heavy stuff with brilliant acting, maybe it pulls at the heartstrings too much for some, but i thought it did it's job very well indeed.
I plan on reading the book one day,so if makes this film look bad,it must be quite something because i feel this film is a five star film.

I read the book about 10 years ago. I cannot believe that they have changed the ending in the film. It was the ending that made the book and made it stay with me for a long time.

Imagine the film , The Sixth Sense, and the shock when you relaised Bruce Willis was not what you thought? Imagine what the film would have been without this part of the story, OK, a bit mundane? Well that's exactly what they have done to this film, taken away the very part of it's 'being'. If you have not read the book you will probably enjoy it.

very, very good film. A slight twist to the end but an outstanding and touching storyline. I actually found the two young girs in this played it brilliantly. a must see!

  Emotional and Powerful

This film is not for the light hearted and will most likely have you in tears (or it did for me). This film is more for the female viewer but is acceptable for the male viewer too. It has been put together exceptionally well and really makes a point about families being together in hard times. Well worth a watch, it will blow you away

This film pulls tugs at the heart strings, and is greatly acted by all the cast. To the reviewers who are putting down because of the book, I'd just like to say that most films made based on books usually don't live up to them, but you're here to review the movie, not the book. Worth a watch.

  Not Great

When it comes to sad films, I'm always the one who ends up in tears! Yet, after being persuaded to watch this, i didn't feel emotional at all and felt the film didn't convey any emotion properly of how these people felt. Wouldn't recommend.

if you have read and enjoyed this book the film is a no-no, no real sense of emotion, missed out rather important parts & the ending is such a dissappointment

If you loved the book DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM.

I loved the booked and was wary of seeing a film based on it. I was so disappointed I wanted to throw the DVD at the wall! The heart of the film was lost and the ending had been completely changed so as to ruin the entire film.
