Monsters, Inc. is the largest scare factory in the monster world and the top Kid-Scarer is James P. Sullivan (John Goodman), a huge, intimidating monster with blue fur, large purple spots and horns, known as "Sulley" to his friends. His Scare Assistant, best friend and roommate is Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), a lime green, opinionated, feisty monster. And visiting from the human world is Boo, a tiny girl who turns the monster world upside down and teaches Sulley and Mike that laughter is more powerful than a scream.

Pixar films are a thing of wondrous beauty. From 'Toy Story' to 'Cars' every one of their releases have been a sight to behold. Merging state-of-the-art CGI animation, memorable characters, humour and, above all, a damn good story they have consistently avoided the recent Walt Disney template of churning out either tired sequels to classic originals or distinctly average fare full of cute animal sidekicks, predictable storylines and hideous soundtracks full of instantly forgettable, sacchirine-heavy songs. But, though every Pixar release has been a thing to behold, for me 'Monsters Inc.' remians their greatest achiecement to dat. The sheer level of wit and creativity on display is beyond belief with the wonderfully inspired city of Monstropolis bursting at the scenes with inventiveness, humour and imagination. And though it does maintain the buddy scenario used in several other Pixar films ('Toy Story 1 and 2', 'Finding Nemo' and even, to some extent, 'Cars') the double act of Mike and Sulley is without equal with John Goodman and Billy Crystal perfectly cast as the monstrous duo. The concept of there being a city full of monsters on the other side of the wardrobe is an idea ripe for creativity and the writers go to town with the vast array of creatures and gags the medium has to offer. From the gag-packed opening introduction to the pair as they walk to work to the wonderfully realised goings on at 'Monsters Inc.' with its multitude of multicoloured doord leading to countless destinations the film is an absolute joy from start to finish. A suitably sleazy, dislikable villian in the form of the inimitable Steve Buscemi and Randall Boggs, the burgeoning romance between Mike and Celia (voiced to perfection by the lovely Jennifer Tilly) and the wide-eyed innocence Boo, the young girl who brings a heart and soul, not to mention mass panic to the proceedings. 'Monsters Inc.' is a wonderful film for the whole family, full of clever in-jokes and references for the adults and instantly lovable characters for the children. This two disc set is also, as is expected from Pixar releases, crammed to bursting with an outstanding selection of special features. Some brilliant animated menus lead to all manner of delights including featurettes on just about every aspect of the production, design galleries, commentaries, the wonderful 'For the Birds' short film and an excellent new Mike and Sulley adventure entitled 'Mike's New Car'. Pixar have never disappointed (even the less-than-successful 'Cars' was miles better than most animated fare) and with 'Monsters Inc.' they delivered their coup de grace - a cracking little adventure full of humour, heart, top class storytelling and immense enjoyment. Well done guys...

Pixar have always amazed me with their innate talent to produce such believable "human" characters, this movie Monsters Inc. is without a doubt no exception. From the beginning you fall in love with the main characters, and the movie really takes you into a whole new world of monsters and their way of life.

Monsters Inc is completely unmissable, the two disc collectors set is also a great DVD to have, it really gives you a deeper look into the movie and how it was made.

It is worth paying a little bit more for the special addition, please buy this DVD
