The Chase. The Desert. The Shack. The Girl. The Roadblock. The End. One man races against time, against destiny, against the road: the ultimate car chase movie.
Kowalski is the last American hero. He's the lone stranger - a modern cowboy in a white Dodge Challenger who bets that he can drive from Denver to San Francisco in fifteen hours. Loaded with amphetamines and a full tank, he takes to the open highway. In his supercharged Challenger he breaks through every speed trap, dragnet and roadblock in four states to become an instant cult hero...

I watched this out of curiosity due to the movie's constant reference in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof.
Tarantino must love this film, and he deserves to, as this is one brilliant cross country car chase. As the driver known only as Kawolski tries to evade the cops. The plot is thread bare, the characterisation is just as thin, but it's not about plot, it's about the powerful 1970 Dodge Challanger, as man and machine combine in the high speed cross country trek of the early 70's. The film is a real product of the time, where everything is groovy and everybody is getting high. The film does have a few faults, as with the blind DJ who irritates with his jive talking broadcast's and the ending is very abrupt, as if they could not figure out how to end this other wise great film. But for most of the film you can tell why this has grown to be a cult classic over the years, as the chase sequences are spectacular.
Trust Tarantino, this truly deserves to be watched!
