I put off buying this since it's release, until now. Let's put it this way - I'm glad I only paid a fiver for it. After seeing this I think it's time Arnie just stuck to being governor of California. It has the various elements of a big action film, but it's just lacklustre in it's execution. You can tell it's post twin towers. Before then action films like these were gritty and often brutal. Now every violent act deemed too nasty is toned down to 15 certificate lameness because apparently we don't want all that nasty violent hard edged realism in our films. Well sorry, I DO want that realism in my action films. I am a grown up, don't treat me like a child. This film lacks the usual humour/black humour so characteristic of the classic Arnie films. It does try a couple of times, but just fails. Arnie barely even fires a gun in this one for Darth's sake. At one point the director clearly wants to make a somewhat valid point about US forces indiscriminantly killing women and children in their fictitious 'war on terror'. Shame then that even THAT point was elbowed out and clearly thought of as too risky - it's one of the deleted scenes on the dvd extras dropped from the main feature. The story just about held my attention I suppose, but this is not vintage Arnie. I would avoid even if you're a fan like me.
