Jim Carrey can act!

Before seeing this film I did not like Jim Carrey and would have had no intention of seeing it. I was of the opinion that he couldn't act and he only did silly wacky comedies like Ace Ventura and Liar Liar etc etc. However the high ratings and positive reviews made me think otherwise, as well as the name of the director Frank Darabont (director of The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile). I was glad i bought it as it proved that Jim Carrey can act in dramatic roles and in my opinion he should stick to them instead of wasting his acting talent in comedies. It was a good story and overall an enjoyable film, which i really liked.
Heart warming

A very litle known and under rated film. This film show cases Carrey's acting talent perfectly.
Gone is the manic comic, to be replaced by a thoughtful touching performance.
A truly lovely film.
The Majestic truely lives up to it's name

Peter Appleton is a Hollywood screenwriter at the time of the "reds under the bed" period when America came down heavily on Communisim within it's boundaries....As Peter (played by a straight Jim Carey brilliantly) is getting the finger pointed at him he goes out in the car on a rainy stormy night only to crash with a subsequent loss of memory and a new life in a different town with a mistaken identity...There Peter falls in love and re-incarnates an old cinema hall aptly named The Majestic and so the story is poised for a great encounter.....I have never seen Jim Carey play such a fantastic straight role as we all associate him as the goof-ball comedian up to ludicrous tricks and mischief, here he truely shines....From Frank Darabont's Direction (The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile) this is the third film in this masterful trio that captures the period with a sense of realism and empathy.... The Majestic is just that and you will never want to miss a second once you start watching it ...a truely remarkable film from a truely gifted Director......
A true delight.

This is an outstanding feel good film.I have watched it over and over and never get bored. It has everything, brilliant acting, humour, sad moments, some great colourful scenes,I get a lump in my throat every time I watch this movie. My little girl asked me recently what my favourite film was and I said to her that was a difficult question as I have so many yet I did think about it and after some thought told her it was the majestic. It is a magic film and a true delight to watch and Jim Carry is excellent and proves he can act.An all round amazing, stunning film, buy it and you will not be dissapointed.Well worth five stars.

This is by far my fave Jim Carey movie, and all of his movies are great so that is sayin something.
The thing I like best about the film is that it has no great special effects or CGI, it is just a great story and played out by great actors, and it makes one hell of a good film.
This film is well worth the money, a must see film if you haven't already.
Easily worth the five stars.
