Unforgiven is an exciting modern classic that rode off with four 1992 Academy Awards. Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman play retired, down-on-their-luck outlaws who pick up their guns one last time to collect a bounty offered by the vengeful prostitutes of the remote Wyoming town of Big Whiskey: Richard Harris is an ill-fated interloper, a colourful killer-for–hire called English Bob. Gene Hackman is the sly and brutal local sheriff whose brand of Law enforcement ranges from unconventional to ruthless. Big trouble is coming to Big Whiskey...

This is an excellent film that seeks to dispel the myth of the Hollywood Western. The lightning fast shootouts, bar room brawls and sleeping under the stars are portrayed in a more realistic way.
The film isn't that harsh for violence (we are not talking Hostel here) but the hard life of the frontier is shown in a more gritty way than a traditional Western.
An outstanding film, an excellent performance from Gene Hackman who I usually detest.

Movie legend Clint Eastwood directs and stars in arguably his greatest ever film 'Unforgiven'.He plays William Munny a former outlaw who is looking for a peaceful life. That all changes however when a young man offers him a partnership in hunting down two violent criminals for a cash reward.Along for the ride is Morgan Freeman as Munnys' loyal friend Ned.Gene Hackman also won an oscar for his portrayal of corrupt marshall Wild Bill.Aswell as that the film won 'Best Picture' and 'Director' for Eastwood.Brerathtaking
The Definitive Western

Clint Eastwood has been in a few westerns. A few he directed and starred. This is his ultimate version of the genre, a variety of influences leading to a great film. You can see glimpses of his previous films such as "the Good, the Bad and the Ugly", "the Outlaw Josey Wales" and even "Dirty Harry" (which has many western qualities). If you are new to westerns then this is a good one to start with, if you like westerns you will love this, if you love westerns you will adore this! With Richard Harris, Morgan Freedman, and Gene Hackman (who won an Oscar for his role) this is a great winner of the Oscar for Best Film 1992. I've seen some good films but this has got to be up there with the very best!
