Night Of The Living Dead
George Romero's Night Of The Living Dead is a black and white classic that spawned the zombie genre from its 1968 release.

At a cemetery in the American south a fleash-eating zombie rises from the dead to claim the first victim of a nightmarish plague. Increasing in number, the hideous cannibals gather outside a farmhouse, where seven desperate mortals shelter from the gathering night and the hideous clawing of the undead outside...

Dawn Of The Dead
"As the oil runs out, as the Three Mile Island nuclear plant sprays radiation into the atmosphere like an atomic teakettle that someone forgot to take off the burner and as the dollar gradually becomes more and more transparent, Romero invites us into a crazed bedlam where zombies stagger up and down escalators, stare with dulled fascination at department store dummies wearing fur coats and try to eat perfume bottles. The movie's four protagonists at first segregate themselves from this world, and then, unknowingly become part of it. The only difference is that they're not dead. At least not yet..." Stephen King - Rolling Stone Magazine.

Day Of The Dead (WS 1.85:1 / Dolby Digital (2.0) Stereo)
The walking dead have taken over the world and only a small band of the living survive. This motley group of scientists and soldiers are barricaded in an abandoned missile silo where the chief scientist is conducting grotesque research experiments to find a way of controlling the ravenous, marauding Zombies. Tensions meanwhile become intolerable especially when the self appointed psychotic military leader discovers that some of his soldiers have been used as guinea pigs in the zombie experiments. A last ditch battle results in the "darkest day of horror the world has ever known".

 What have they done!?

Let me just say that if i had known what they had done to Night Of The Living Dead i wouldnt have bought this boxset.
Theyve added 15 minutes of new footage filmed in 1998 and added it at the begining and at the end, they have removed bits aswell so if you wish to enjoy the original i recommend not buying this, either that or buy another copy of NOTLD and put it in there, throw away this lame copy of the film you get with it which is the 30th Anniversary Edition and is absolutely horrible, theres even a new score which is not great to say the least.
Dawn Of The Dead has the exploding head cut out and also the bit where the zombie children get shot even tho this is supposed to be the directors cut version.
Where as Day Of The Dead seems to be ok.
It would be 1 star for Night Of The Living Dead for what they have done to it.
3 stars for Dawn and 5 for Day.
Ive given it 1 overall so people will look why and take notice of why not to buy this, there is a new DVD boxset comming out and hopefully its been changed

Strange kind of Fan Service ...

I bought this collection some years back - because I wanted it and because it was incredibly cheap. Well, I've bought another version now.

What they have done to Night of the Living Dead is strange, because it's supposed to be "for all the other fans out there", but it just wrecks the movie. The once amazing ending is ruined. All this wouldn´t be so bad, if the original version was on the disc as well, but it isn't!

However, I've kept it for some of the extra material, which is quite good. For the movies - buy another version!

 Zombie fan? You need this!

Not a whole lot of reviewing needed here. If you're into zombie films then you probably already have it. If not you should buy it, it's that simple. The final DVD documentry is well worth a watch too. Well worth the money.

Another must-have horror set for a good price

The original Night Of The Living Dead is an absolute classic and a pioneer of what would later become a tired and very imitated idea: the ultra-violent zombie film! This black and white chiller was one of the first to feature on-screen violence where there would normally be cutaways and features so many things we've now seen a thousand times - but this is where they STARTED. Superb classic. Also features a new opening, ending and middle-of-the-film car-crash scene.

Dawn of the Dead is maybe one of the best horror sequels ever. A great idea, very character driven and the violence just keeps on coming, very explicit and very constant. The isolation increases the tension and makes for a still-original horror film to this day. This is the director's cut edition.

Day of the Dead has better effects than the first two because of the time but the film never really kicks off, it has one or two decent scenes but is a very poor addition to the series.

The set features plenty of insightful extras, this is a great set for a great price.
