When I first saw this film when it first came out over here at the cinema, I was drawn to Halle Berry's mesmerizing performance of Leticia Musgrove who ends up alone after the deaths of her husband and son. Her husband at the hands of the electric chair after serving 11 years on death row and her son in a hit and run.
She falls in love with Hank Grotowski who used to be a prison warden at the prison where her husband was executed in the electric chair. She's unaware of this until she goes through her husband's drawings but by then its too late.
A powerful drama orchestrated with great skill by Marc Forster and showcasing Halle Berry in the best role of her career. Halle Berry's performance is a tour de force and deserved the Best Actress statuette at the Oscars.
