The briefcase set isn't just a box - Here's a list of the premium items in the set: "Included is a lenticular motion film clip from the original feature, miniature origami unicorn figurine, miniature replica spinner car, collector's photographs as well as a signed personal letter from Sir Ridley Scott. "
-So for the extra money you get the case (which is cool, the extra little bits). Cool.

This movie is without question the godfather of sci-fi, I never get tired of watching it, this box set is fantastic and an absolute must for Blade Runner fans, five different versions, albeit some are almost the same, vastly improved sound and picture quality and all in a nice collector's tin, what more could you ask for? Viewing this film today looks as fresh and modern as the day it was released. BUY IT!!

All I can say is wow! Ever since I rented a video of this film back in the eighties I have been utterly smitten by Blade Runner. This DVD set is a must-have for all Blade Runner fans who, like me, have been in awe of this film. Ridley has done a great job of re-mastering this film, the picture on my 42" plasma tv is stunning. The sounds have been tweaked and Ridley has also included lots of subtle background sounds which totally enhance the viewing experience. If you've ever wondered what the fuss was all about regarding this film buy this dvd set and become hooked like the rest of us.

Having already been a huge fan of one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies of all time (And already having the old version of the DVD, the one with the cardboard cover) I wasn't going to buy this special edition but i have to say that with the multiple versions plus the commenteries and features, i was very pleased with this DVD. Im also a big fan of Concept Art and loved the photos included with this DVD. Along with the little 'futuristic' note from Ridley and the other extras I would gladly pay this price for all my DVD's if they came in a package like this.

The Final Cut of Blade Runner is about 1% different to the Director's cut. Some clever fixes and changes to the effects, the dove sequence, the unicorn dream and some extra gore and violence are introduced but it is essentially very close to the Director's Cut.

The main difference is the incredible leap in picture and sound quality. It looks so much sharper than any previous version and the sound is gut-wrenching. Dialogue is much clearer too.

Very enjoyable and probably the definitive version. For now.

Like others, I've not really even started making my way through the plethora of goodies on these discs yet, but as soon as I opened the tin, I knew that this was money well-spent.

The holographic scene frame is nice, and the conceptual art still are fantastic. A feature length documentary and five, yes five, versions of the movie itself, including the 'final cut'. The movie looks, and sounds as good as it ever has.

Definitely worth picking up. I can finally get rid of the crummy one-disc version now!

I've barely scratched the surface of this weighty package and already feel like I've had my money's worth.

The Final Cut of the movie is superb. In stark contrast to George Lucas' sledgehammer approach to remastering the original Star Wars Trilogy, all changes are culled from footage shot at the time with no intrusive CGI clumsily slotted in.

Instead, countless small tweaks have been made to patch up glaring continuity errors and SFX flaws from previous editions of the movie. A few brief scenes and lines of dialogue from a workprint edition have also been put back in. Subtlety, however, remains the key word at all times.

Also worthy of mention is Disc Four, which contains nearly an hour of deleted and alternative scenes showing the movie in a whole new light.

We learn through alternative voiceovers that the break-up of Deckard's marriage originally played a much bigger role in the film, for example. The well-known 'Holden in the hospital' sequences have likewise been cleaned up for our viewing pleasure.

I love the package to bits and haven't even yet got round to watching the "Dangerous Days" documentary or the Workprint edition. For hardcore fans of BR and classic sci-fi in general, this is nothing short of a must-buy.

Now admittedly, whilst it's all well and good for a sad little sci-fi loving git like me, I would concede that this package is probably a tad excessive for the casual viewer. It's not going to be a must-have for everybody, let's be realistic.

Nonetheless, I'd urge anyone with even the slightest inkling of curiosity about this cinematic gem to at least invest in the newly-released 2-disk edition featuring the definitive Final Cut, and lose themselves in the murky backstreets of Los Angeles 2019.

Have a better one.

Number 1 DVD Reviewer

This is the box-set to buy, rather than the cheaper 2 disc version. The simple reason is the value for money you get with it. The 5 disc's are cased in a metal box and inside you will find a cool looking Hologram, a compaion booklet, a note from Director Ridley Scott on clear plastic, and some cool looking stills from the film. But that is just the start, the value for money starts with the 5 disc's.
What you get is....
BLADE RUNNER THE FINAL CUT 2007.
Ridley Scott has tweaked the film even further than his excellent Directors Cut from fifteen years ago.
The film has the best picture and sound possible, a few new scenes added, and this for me is the best version of the film.
BLADE RUNNER THE DIRECTORS CUT 1992.
This version is a vast improvement on the Theatrical versions, Gone has the droning diologue and the added question over Deckard's existence is brilliant.
U.S. THEATRICAL CUT 1982
INTERNATIONAL THEATRICAL CUT 1982
BLADE RUNNER WORK PRINT 1982
This work print is the first ever version released on Video in 1983.
All the original theatrical and work print from above feature Harrison Ford's voice over that kills the final moments of the film. Also they feature the terrible nice ending that is totaly out of place with the rest of the film.
But the crowning glory is the three and a half hour documentary DANGEROUS DAYS: of the history of the movie, from it's conception to the troubled shoot and tension on set. To the failure to capture it's audiance on it's 1982 release all the way to it's classic resurrection as the mile stone classic it is today!
BLADE RUNNER in what ever version you like best has always been a classic, it just needed time to clear away the rough edges.
The final cut is one of the greatest SCI-FI movies ever made, it's a visual and audio masterpiece, that has so many ideas that it keeps with you long after the film has ended.
This is a Box-set you must buy.
A MASTERPIECE!
