From the creators of the hugely popular Escaflowne: The Movie and Last Exile comes the brand new futuristic cop show, Heat Guy J - an exhilarating action adventure series that combines cyber-punk sci-fi with the best elements of the buddy-bop genre.

Built in the aftermath of a global flood, the city of Judoh is a hi-tech metropolis and mankind's last chance to pursue the Utopian dream. Will the threat of organised crime, illegal robotics and over-population turn it into a nightmare?

Heat Guy J has become a byword for the new school of dynamic Japanese sci-fi animation in the vein of Ghost In the Shell and Last Exile.

Starts off a bit slow but brilliant after

For the first few episodes of this series I wasn't really sure whether I thought it was any good. The stories and problems just seemed to be solved in matter of seconds with no real evolution of the story. But after these episodes it's totally awesome! I really got into this series and finished it in about 3 days, then started watching it again! And the second time round I managed to appreciate that the first few episodes are just setting up the rest of the series. My only real problem with the series were J's constant "A man should blah blah blah" speeches. I don't mind a few morals in my anime but I don't want to be preached to every 5 minutes, though I guess it fits in with the theme of the whole series about strong relationships and stuff. But otherwise an absolutely brilliant anime. Would definitely recommend!

 great boxset

At £7.99 there is no excuse in missing Heat Guy J, even when it goes back up in price it still worth about £20.00 of any Anime fans money.

The story

It really starts with J, who first appears to be human, is really a android who was built by the government of Oceanic to combat crime, with a human partner Daisuke Aurora. At this point, some of you may be thinking not another buddy cop drama. But trust me this is great, to prove this point I will talk about the set up for the first volume.

The Setup

In the first episode of the first volume, the head of the main mob family dies and leaves his son in charge, which problem wasn't a great idea, because the kid is crazy and his actions lead to a full-scale mob war by the second episode. By the end of the first episode, I had grown to love J and Daisuke through their interactions with each and the other characters.

The Animation and Music

The city is beautiful, while all the characters feel fully realize in movements and facial expressions. The music is perfect I love he opening and closing, the music is a blend of modern rock and even some Scottish music, which I normal hate, but really works for Heat Guy J. So far I have only watch Heat Guy J in Japanese with the English subtitles, so I can't comment on the English Dubbing. But the Japanese is prefect even the smaller roles are well cast.

In closing buy Heat Guy J, it's a wonderful series , that you will not regret spending your money on.

Great Buy, for the price that is.....

As of my opinion i cant say this is the best anime out there. i've watched this prior to buying the DVD but wasn't that impressed.
I won't go into the details of the anime itself since that can be got from both ANN and Andib.info (biggest anime info websites).

As for the DVD package, i must say it was a nice deal to have the whole collection for not more than 13euros.
The packaging isnt that great but has enough info to tell u whats inside.
The box has a total of 3 volumes which holds 2 each DVD's, the DVD's are dual layer (since they have both DTS and 5.1 Surround for Eng and Jap tracks)
The video is good, since its the usual Manga release u'll expect the same kind of video quality which u get on other Manga releases.
The Menu though is easy to navigate and clear, it also features some animation.
The Soundtrack is good too. especially the OP song by Try Force which is really good one.
The Subtitles have some mistakes here and there, but altogether they are fine and understandable.
The DVD's themselves dont have any extras whatsoever, except the manga trailers, the only extra u could possibly find worth mentioning is the DTS Soundtrack for both English and Japanese which i already mentioned.
Its really a great buy if ur a collector like me since its so cheap.

 PLEASE MAKE SERIES 2!!!
