He Went Looking For Inspiration, But Found More Than He Bargained For.
Fernando Colomo's lighthearted romantic comedy is based on the real-life adventures of British author Gerald Brenan ('The Spanish Labyrinth') who fled England in the 1920s and settled down in a remote Spanish village for inspiration.
A member of the Bloomsbury group, writer Gerald Brenan (Matthew Goode) settled into a small town near Granada armed with 2,000 books and no knowledge of the local customs. Experiencing severe culture shock, he befriends local, Paco (Guillermo Toledo) who introduces Gerald to the town where he eventually falls in love with the village witch's daughter, the beautiful Juliana (Veronica Sanchez).
