An astonishing artistic feat. Patrick McGoohan was one of the biggest TV stars of his time thanks to Danger Man and turned down the role of James Bond. When given artistic control of a follow up series he confounded and baffled his audience with a series with themes of the state versus the individual, privacy, psychiatry, brainwashing, virtual reality, the surveillance society, politics and more. The superb production and sound design have given the show a timeless quality and its themes have proved prescient
