To know Lloyd Dobler is to love him. Diane Court is about to know Lloyd Dobler.
In this charming, critically acclaimed tale of first love, Lloyd (John Cusack), an eternal optimist, seeks to capture the heart of Diane, an unattainable high school beauty and straight-A student (Ione Skye). He surprises just about everyone - including himself - when she returns the sentiment. But Diane's over-possessive, divorced dad (John Mahoney) doesn't approve and it's going to take more than just the power of love to conquer all.

This is a wonderful romantic film!! My Mum and I watch it with a glass of wine and both want to meet a Lloyd Dobler!! Cusack is fantastic and quirky and this is a film to make you smile! I really like the way Lloyd babbles when he is nervous and the kickboxing (sport of the future) John's character does. This is a feel good film you have to see.
John Cusack is awesome

This movie is right up there with Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller- it has all the right elements for a classic 80's film, including a great cast. John Cusack is great in this film, as is John Mahoney (Frasier's Martin). I love the quirkiness of John's character Lloyd and how he rambles when he is nervous. The main theme is a post high school graduation love story between a brainy girl and genuine good guy, but then there is a twist at the end involving the girl's father (Mahoney), who doesn't approve of his daughter's relationship with Lloyd. I really liked this film and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of 80's films or John Cusack's work.
LOVED IT!

John Cuscak is absolutley adorable as he is in most of his films. This is such a wonderful film which has all the right ingredients for a classic 80's film. The famous Boom Box scene is something that will stick with you. The acting in the film is great and once you see it you'll want to see it again and again.
