Neil Gaiman adapts his own fantasy novel for this stop-motion animated adventure from the director of "The Nightmare Before Christmas". 11-year old Coraline (Dakota Fanning) must escape an alternate reality where her parents dote on her when this seemingly perfect world starts to turn bad.

From Henry Selick the visionary director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and based on Neil Gaiman's best-selling book, comes this spectacular stop-motion animated adventure!

Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is bored until she finds a secret door and discovers an alternate, better, version of her life on the other side. When this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, Coraline must use her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to save her family.

Every one should really comment on how good the film itself is, because it's brilliant, not only for kids but for adults... basically it's for all ages.
The Film has a good story-line, the animation is great, what more can you ask for?

As for the 3D, the glasses are Green / Magenta (the two different colour glasses). This is because TV's cannot support Real-D, if it were that simple, Cinema's would not need to upgrade to Digital Projectors and of course a brand new screen that can support 3D.

If you are looking for a film that's capable of being 3D with the clear glasses, you will need to wait for 2010 when the new Full HD 3D TV's come out... and also films that are released supporting this.

One of the best of the year

Dont pay attention to the 1 star review on this page, it was that review that compelled me to respond.

Wonderful movie, the stop motion animation is outstanding and a total visual feast. Mabe not for younger children, im 30 and it certainly enaged and entertained me for 90 mins.

Great narrative that never lets up. If you enjoyed Pan's Labryinth you will enjoy this.

The 3d glasses are a fun, bundled extra, watch it normal mode.

Beware, the 3D Version is not what it seems...

An absolutely amazing film, I saw it at my local Showcase in 3D a while back, brilliant. The 3D experience was supurb, one of the few 3D films i've seen that looked great on the big screen.
When I heard that the 3D version was going to be put on DVD I was thrilled... until I did some research. It turns out that the 3D version is going to be that awful 3D version with those horrid magenta/green glasses, not so thrilled. Beware if you were expecting the same version as in the cinemas, I know I was.
I would have rated it 5 stars as it is an excellent film, but the disapointment of the lack of a decent 3D version had me take it down a peg.

 Good film and fantastic 3D!

Wow! After seeing the trailer on the net i was so excited about this movie, being a big fan of A Nightmare Before Christmas. I've got to say that this is probably the best film i've seen this year, and i have seen something every single week thanks to my cine card. This movie is absolutely stunning and a real joy to watch. Stop motion is a true art form as far as i'm concerned and this wipes the floor with the abundance of digitally animated films being churned out these days.
I've never read the book but will certainly make the effort now. The story is truely captivating and the characters really come to life in this creepy and colourful tale of two worlds, one dark and one light. I would strongly recommend this to both adults and children alike and will definately be buying this when it comes out.
