From the co-creator of Inspector Morse comes Kavanagh Q.C. starring John Thaw

John Thaw (Inspector Morse, Goodnight Mr. Tom) dons the silks as barrister James Kavanagh Q.C., one of the most highly respected criminal advocates in London, commanding admiration from colleagues and opponents alike. However all this has come at a price as his dedication to work has taken its toll on his private life...

Going beyond traditional courtroom dramas, Kavanagh Q.C. uncovers the pressures of legal battles and the problems of defining the truth, providing a compelling representation of the euphoric ups and costly downs of success and failure in the Legal world.

Some most familiar faces, even the Mrs pops up.

I actually own the first box set of this serial, 27 but the total was 29 episodes MADE, & what I did find, the acting was up to very high standards, but as you will indeed notice some familiar faces pop up mainly I found from Trial & Retribution also A Touch Of Frost, Prime Suspect & Inspector Morse, all ITV, of course. The very first episode running at 90 minutes, following ones going down to the standard 75 minutes features Ewan McGregor as the suspect in the murder of a female, even though found innocent, the twist at the end, has us all convinced he was indeed guilty of the crime, as he did it before. The Young Sherlock Holmes, Nicholas Rowe, also features along with Mrs John Thaw, Sheila Hancock, also a suspect, made nearly 20 years ago, it has not really aged, but overall what spoilt it for me, was the Mancurian accent that Thaw speaks throughout this serial, we are used to him being from around London/Oxford, but he is originally from Manchester so hence the 3 star rating***.

 top quality drama series

I decided to review this title as the only other one was being very unfair giving it a 3 rating just because John Thaws character has a northern accent.!
This series is excellent in all aspects both in the cases presented to the law courts in each episode, and the characters developed as the series progresses, the interaction of personal professional and the everyday hustle and bustle of a law practice in a major city are superbly portrayed by quality acting and razor sharp scripts, anyone who liked rumploe of the bailey or this life ,for example will love this.
