Personally this is not one of his best films but still gets a 4 star because his other films are just that good, this film has a simple plot with the tough outlaw cop coming to the city to pick up a prisoner for transport, when that prisoner escapes Eastwood will not go back home empty handed no matter what he is ordered to do, thus starting a chase in which there is no room for failure..

Another great film from Mr Eastwood that i had to have in my set! No matter what his role you know he's the man and you cant wait to see another of his films. One of my favourite actors so this is a bargain buy for me and even though he didn't direct this film aswell it is still a classic! He's a tough guy but is still polite (the scene where he visits the bad guys mother at home) which is all new to eastwood from some previous roles yet he still pulls it of. Nice one Play.com another bargain!

after the success of the italian westerns Clint arrived back in Hollywood as a major star but by no means a novice either. Keen to take his career in his own hands he formed his own production company 'malpaso'. here in his first collaboration with director Don siegel he plays an arizon deputy sheriff sent to the concrete jungles of New York to bring back a prisoner.
It's an excellent film which show both actor and director in fine form. simple but effective. gritty but touching.
I've waited a long time for the dvd release and was very disappointed with this release. it is by no means remastered and has a bad grainy look, the image is so close up you feel you're in the movie ! universal need to re-master this excellent film with stereo soundtrack and extras. keep away from this dvd unless you're curious.
