Boris Karloff stars as the screen's most memorable monster in what many consider to be the greatest horror film ever made.

Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) dares to tamper with life and death by creating a human monster (Karloff) out of lifeless body parts. Its' director James Whale's adaptation of the Mary Shelley novel blended with Karloff's compassionate portrayal of a creature groping for identity that makes Frankenstein a masterpiece not only of the genre, but for all time.

 Boris Karloff makes a monster!

Very dark and unforgetable, Karloff ( The uncanny) makes this film and sets the standard for any other Frankenstien's monster that followed. Its easy to forget the age of this film its worn well. This version contains a scene left out of previous involving a drowning, the scene adds a much darker tone to the film, not many extras on the disc but the film speaks for itself !.

Like 'Dracula' this film version of Mary Shelleys' novel 'Frankenstein' from the 'Universal Monsters' series is the best.Boris Karloff will forever be associated with the role of the tragic monster and his appearance is the image everyone thinks of when they think of 'Frankenstein'.Colin Clive is excellent in the title role and James Whale directed this masterpiece

 UNIVERSAL CLASSIC!!!

Director Whale,s dark, gothic version of Mrs Percy B. Shelley,s classic novel has some nice moments of humour and, along with Dracula (1930) from the same studio, kicked of the first great horror cycle. Still memorable for Clive,s manic Henry Frankenstein ("It,s alive!") and , Frye,s demented hunchback, Fritz. THe monster (created by make-up artist Jack Pierce) made a star of the then unknown forty four year old Karloff, who brings a unique childlike pathos to the role. With Lionel Belmore as the Burgomaster, and electrical equiptment created and operated by Frank Grove, Kenneth Strickfaden and Raymond Lindsay. A must have horror classic. buy it now!!! 5/5. d:-)
