Wow, what can I say other than I had no real expectations for this film, I was looking forward to watching it after seeing some reviews, but I wasn't optimistic about the my feelings for after the film.
But I was pleasently surprised, the film starts off with the many weird deaths and occurances that happen throughout the film, whcih was a great way to start as some of the deaths are really well thought up, I won't spoil them but particularly the girl runner is gruesome, there are also a few out of the corner of your eye scares, which were a nice change of pace every now and again.
Storywise it was fine, well more than fine to be honest, it actually had me gripped from the get-go, it does lose a star though for lagging abit in the middle, but it does pick up again and speeds up for the finale.
Being a 1999 production there are a few obvous pieces that date this film including a section introducing email to the detectives which made me laugh abit.
So I found this to be a pretty underated Japanese Horror film, I certainly have never seen it publicised massively and I can't see why, the film is good and it seems like it was shunned away, which is a great shame.
If you like your films to have a fairly high body count with creative ways of seeing people die, then i'd definitly give this a try, it's no Ringu or Ju-on but it never trys to be, which in return gives you a very enjoyable film.
