I collect Harryhausen movies and this is one of the better ones, it just throws everything at you, giant creatures born from experimentation, captain Nemo and his submarine, an erupting volcano, interesting characters and great action, damn good fun stuff and thoroughly recommended!

Here and there Harryhausen over reaches himself and the effects look a bit off, but that's part of the fun of all his movies, no seamless digital processing here, some suspension of disbelief required, but this is definitely in the top few of his best back catalogue and in some scenes even my less 'converted' friends were saying, 'Hold on, how did he do THAT!?', and it's that kind of reaction that I love these kinds of movies for.

That, and that I can put them on for my nephews and start the whole cycle of childhood joy all over again!

Not bad for the DVD extras either.
