A film of the highest quality. Superbly written, directed, edited and acted. Harry Eden as the young boy is gritty and realistic - a revelation. The film shows the world that lurks beneath the visible regeneration of the East End, a world that is rarely seen or understood from the outside but within is a constant dark and painful anguish. Pure encapsulates this superbly and there is little that it fails to deal with.
A particular scene which involves the young boy finally confronting his mother about the life that her actions are forcing him to lead is especially moving and shows up the way in which such children are forced into a world of grotesque misery and expectation and a knowledge that contradicts the innocence that should, and to an extent still does, lie within.
Powerful, moving, action-filled, highly credible, masterfully acted.
great
