Meddling with his genetic destiny has brought man to a moral crossroads... with dire consequences. Now, five men and women are humanity's only hope for a future without fear. 'Mutant X' chronicles the adventures of a team of human mutants possessing extraordinary powers as a result of engineering. Like hundreds of other unsuspecting subjects, these new mutants were altered in secret government experiments and now the government is after them...
The Meaning Of Death: When Brennan is dealing with the Underground, one of its sub-leaders, Rick, comes down with a disease that causes his powers to flare out of control.
Lit Fuse: Ashley and her boyfriend Eric are on the runner from a bounty hunter, Cross. Ashley is an "elemental" who absorbs energy: in this case, electrical. She escapes although Eric is captured. Mutant X detects the power outage and goes after her.
In The Presence Of Mine Enemies: Jesse is in love with Toni, a computer hacker and New Mutant. Eckhart, concerned about the fact that Proxy Blue knows about him, wants the virtual newscaster silenced.
Crime Of The New Century: Joshua, a young New Mutant with uncontrolled pyrokinetic abilities, is kidnapped out of his home. Adam knows that his mother is a New Mutant as well, a telepath, and he and Emma go undercover as agents to investigate the kidnapping.
Dark Star Rising: Shalimar intercepts three ferals trying to blow up Biocorp. She stops their mission but they escape, one of them seemingly ill. Mutant X identifies them through a tattoo: they are members of Dark Star, an internatinal anti-terrorist unit. The gang tracks them down - the ill man is now dead, and the other two have no idea what a New Mutant is...
