John Simm continues into a second thrilling series as Sam Tyler, a driven and ambitious young detective, determined to keep the streets of 21st Century Manchester safe. But after a near fatal car accident, he has waken up, dazed and confused, in 1973. Has he gone back in time? Is he in a coma? Or has he simply gone insane?
In an archaic CID unit he still must adapt to their old-fashioned technologies and etiquettes while working on some of the hardest cases in which he's ever been involved...

I know nothing about the seventies.
HOWEVER, this is very very good, excellent infact. It continues from the first series, which is only four stars in my opinion, and expands on the characters.
Good compelling viewing with characters you can relate to, stories that are believable (in a 70's sort of way) and generally a really really good series with an excellently written finally.
This coupled with the first series is something you must watch.
Didn't think i would be interested in this when it was on tele, and hence didn't watch it. Afterwards cought one of the replays and instantly wanted to know how it ended.
Something for all the family (if over 15!)
awesome

This is one of the best TV Boxsets ever. It's about Sam Tyler a detective in the 21st century who had a car accident and woke up in 1973. He finds himself working with DCI Gene Hunt who likes to use his fist to get results. Gene is very funny and comes out with some great one liner. It's a must have Boxset staring John Simm, Phillip Glenister, Liz White, Dean Andrews and Marshall Lanchster. It has a great story line to it in every episode. I don't really like cop shows but this one is so good that I've watch it back to back 4 times.
